Common causes and maintenance of planetary gearboxes
As an important component of modern mechanical transmission, planetary reducers are widely used in various industrial equipment and mechanical systems. However, due to the complexity of the working environment and the characteristics of the equipment itself, planetary gearboxes are inevitably prone to various malfunctions during use. This article aims to explore in detail the common causes and maintenance methods of planetary gearboxes, in order to help readers better understand and respond to these issues.

1、 The planetary gearbox does not rotate the motor in an unloaded state
One of the common faults of planetary gearboxes is that the motor does not rotate when there is no load. This fault may be caused by various reasons, including power outage, broken connecting wires, poor switch contact, motor coil breakage, three-phase motor connected to single-phase voltage, single-phase motor not connected to capacitor, poor starter operation of single-phase motor, and damage to gears, shafts, and bearings.
For such faults, the first step is to check if the power supply is normal and inquire with the power company if there is a power outage. At the same time, check the integrity of the connecting wires to ensure that there are no breaks or poor contacts. If the motor coil breaks, it needs to be sent to a professional factory for repair. For three-phase motors connected to single-phase voltage, it is necessary to confirm whether the voltage and wiring method are correct. When a single-phase motor is not connected to a capacitor or the starter operates poorly, a capacitor should be connected or sent to a professional factory for repair. In addition, damage to gears, shafts, and bearings can also cause the motor to not rotate, and such issues also require detailed inspection and repair by professional factories.
2、 When the servo planetary gearbox is under load, the motor does not rotate
The servo planetary reducer does not rotate the motor under load, which may be caused by low voltage, gear damage, and overload operation.
For such faults, the first thing to check is whether the power cord is too long or too thin, which may cause insufficient voltage. If there is a problem with the power cord, a suitable power cord should be replaced. In addition, gear damage is also a common cause of motor failure, and it is necessary to send it to a professional factory for gear repair or replacement. At the same time, overloading operation can also cause the motor to not rotate, so the workload should be reduced to ensure that the gearbox operates within the rated load range.
3、 Abnormal heating of planetary gearbox
The planetary gearbox generates abnormal heat during operation, which may be caused by overload operation, high starting and stopping frequencies, bearing wear, and high or low voltage.
In order to reduce the phenomenon of heating, the load should be reduced, the load amount should be reduced, and the frequency of use should be reduced to decrease the frequency of starting and stopping. For bearing wear, timely maintenance or replacement of bearings should be carried out. At the same time, confirm whether the voltage is normal to avoid abnormal heating of the gearbox caused by high or low voltage.
