A stepper motor is an electromechanical device that can directly convert pulse current into mechanical motion. Based on the sequence, frequency, and quantity of pulse current applied to the motor coil, the steering, speed, and rotation angle of the stepper motor can be controlled. Without the use of a closed-loop feedback control system with position sensing, a simple and low-cost open-loop control system composed of stepper motors and their corresponding drivers can achieve precise position and speed control in the application field.

Stepper motors, as executive components, are one of the key products in electrical automation and are widely used in various intelligent control systems. With the development of electronic information technology and precision manufacturing technology, the demand for stepper motors is increasing day by day, and the combination of stepper motors and transmission gear mechanisms to form reduction gearboxes is also seen in many application fields
How to slow down a stepper motor?
Stepper motors, as a common and widely used driving motor, are usually paired with deceleration devices to achieve ideal transmission effects; The common reduction devices and methods for stepper motors include reduction gearboxes, encoders, controllers, pulse signals, etc.
Pulse signal deceleration: The speed of the stepper motor is changed based on the variation of the input pulse signal. In theory, when a pulse is given to the driver, the stepper motor rotates by one step angle (referred to as a subdivision step angle during subdivision). In fact, if the pulse signal changes too quickly, the magnetic reaction between the rotor and stator of the stepper motor will not follow the changes in the power signal due to the damping effect of the reverse electromotive force of the internal structure, resulting in stalling and step loss.
Reduction gearbox for deceleration: Stepper motors are equipped with a reduction gearbox for application in various fields. The stepper motor outputs high-speed and low torque speeds, which are connected to the reduction gearbox. The internal structure of the gearbox forms a reduction ratio through the meshing transmission of the reduction gear group, which reduces the high-speed output of the stepper motor and increases the transmission torque, achieving an ideal transmission effect; The deceleration effect depends on the reduction transmission ratio of the gearbox. The larger the reduction ratio, the lower the output speed, and vice versa.
